AnimalZone: Purrs & Paws: Hawaii’s Cats vs. Dogs Showdown - Season 14, Episode 07
On the Big Island of Hawai‘i, the great debate takes center stage—cats or dogs? We kick off in Kona at Aloha Animal Oasis, where founder John and his daughter Avea introduce us to Brutus and Bella, two five-week-old kittens who’ve already mastered the art of winning hearts. John’s true heroism shines through as he cares for 20 “underdog” cats at home—blind, deaf, or three-legged—proving that love makes every whisker worthy. His dream is to create a haven as welcoming as the famous Lāna‘i Cat Sanctuary, but on a Big Island scale.

Then it’s off to Hilo, where Aloha Ilio Rescue shows us how dogs rule the day. With 600–700 pups finding homes each year, the team’s passion is boundless. Board member Andrew Hreha explains how visitors can take a dog out for a day to the beach, on a hike, or simply for some park playtime—because in Hawai‘i, even the strays deserve a vacation.

From meows to barks, this episode is proof that paradise has room for everyone—whether you’re a cat cuddler or a dog devotee.
